I have emmersed myself into the monsterous task of planning my wedding. It's two years away roughly May 2012.
We don't have a budget and we have no savings apart from the credit cards we already own (£950 total). I'm attempting to be realistic in my judgement of how much the wedding will cost (approx £10,000) but i've got loads of cost cutting tips which should knock it under that.
We're both looking to get married in a church, and for our reception to beclose to our local church, i don't want everyone to have to travel far. Unfortunately in Folkestone we're not blessed with the nicest reception venues.
Here are our options:
- Port Lympne Wild Animal Park (a bit far out)
- The Hythe Imperial
- The Grand Hotel
These are our best options otherwise it's just too much cost and too far.
We've been quoted £600(ish) for a DJ and the Transport all in one obviously it will rise due to the location. Even so it's a damn good price as most entertainers expect a lot for the job.
We spoke to a Toastmaster who has quoted us £300 until September 2012!! Which i thought was pretty good, although we might ask the Best Man to help with the proceedings.
Theres a beautiful cake we've seen although it's pretty pricey, coming in at £650. I'm thinking of doing Cupcake Wedding Cake, so the cupcakes can double up as desserts and cakes for people to take home, also thinking of doing a square top layer so we can have a cake topper.
The colours i'm going to go for are either; gold and deep red (not burgundy), ivory and gold or ivory/white.
I'm goingto create my own sweet stall buying various glassware and bowls etc to fill with nostalgic sweets, definately a winner with the kids :) and big kids like me :)
I've seen a couple of dresses i like in the bridal magazines, but predictably no prices captioned but all of them are at the London Earls Court Wedding Show in October (1st-3rd), which i'm debating whether to attend or not. I can only attend two events (up until my wedding day) and seeing as the dresses i like are supposed to be at the show this year... it might be worth it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated :-)
Love
xx
